Active State Employees' Premium to Change Effective August 1, 2009
The FY10 Appropriations Act makes changes in active state employees’ basic life and health insurance premium contributions. The changes became effective August 1, 2009. There is no contribution percentage change for the GIC’s dental/vision plan.
The premium changes for active employees’ basic life and health premium contributions are as follows:
- Employees hired on or before June 30, 2003 will now pay 20% of their monthly group insurance premium
- Employees hired after June 30, 2003 will now pay 25% of their monthly group insurance premium
In other words, all employees currently paying 15% will now pay 20% and all employees currently paying 20% (and any new hires or groups joining the GIC) will pay 25% of their monthly group insurance premium for basic life and health coverage.
