Find out about plan options if you are GIC-eligible and how to enroll in benefits during annual enrollment, as a new hire, and as a new municipal enrollee. Annual enrollment gives current participants an opportunity to review their options and make changes if desired.

If you are a state employee looking to save money on your federal and state taxes, take advantage of the GIC's pre-tax benefits. Open enrollment for Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefits will take place October 5 through November 13 of 2009 for 2010 calendar year benefits. Current participants MUST re-enroll to receive benefits in 2010.

These comprehensive guides provide an overview of the choices available to you for FY10. Active Employees - see the GIC Coordinator in your benefits office for a printed version of the guide. Retirees and survivors receive the guide at their home. New Municipal enrollees and new Sherriff's/Transportation employees and retirees will receive their guide through their benefits office.

Annual enrollment will take place in April 2010 for changes effective July 1, 2010. Annual enrollment gives you the opportunity to review your benefit selections and make changes if you desire, or to enroll in benefits if you are GIC eligible.

During annual enrollment, eligible state employees, participating authority, charter school, and planning council employees may choose from the following options.

Retirees and Survivors of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Participating Authority, Charter School, Planning Council, and GIC Retired Municipal Teachers not participating in the municipal program may choose from the options outlined.

If you are a new GIC-eligible employee, you can enroll in GIC benefits within 10 calendar days of your first date of employment.

If you are a Retiring Municipal Teacher (Non-Municipality Program), you can enroll in GIC benefits before you retire. You do not need to enroll during the GIC's annual enrollment period. See your benefits department and the RMT section of this site for more information.
