As a result of numerous changes to Massachusetts energy laws and regulations in recent years, electric and gas bills now include substantially more information about the services covered - information that customers may find difficult to understand. Electric bills, in particular, have changed due to the 1997 Electric Restructuring Act. This law has brought sweeping changes to the way electric utility companies do business in the Commonwealth.
