Lawrence Man Pleads Not Guilty To Murder
Judge Timothy Feeley ordered Ramos held without bail, and continued his case until October 14 for a pre-trial hearing and further bail argument.
Ramos, a Lawrence High School student, is the second person charged with the murder of Thu Nguyen, 59, of Methuen. Daniel Lopez, 21, of Lawrence, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on August 17 in Lawrence District Court.
The men are accused of assaulting Mr. Nguyen when he arrived at a South Union Street address the evening of July 30 to deliver Chinese food. He suffered blunt force trauma to the head and died the next day.
Both men were indicted on Friday, October 2, by an Essex County Grand Jury on charges of first degree murder and unarmed robbery. Lopez, who is also held without bail, is expected to be arraigned in Salem Superior Court within the next two weeks.
Also, today in connection with this case, Lawrence and State Police arrested a 16 year-old male juvenile and charged him with misleading police. He was arraigned this afternoon in Lawrence Juvenile Court.
