The Massachusetts Child Support Enforcement Division (DOR) has consistently relied on a partnership with the employer community in assisting children to obtain the financial support to which they are entitled. More than 75% of all money collected on behalf of America's children is collected by employers through income withholding. That means that employers play a vital role in helping to ensure the financial security of millions of our nation's children. By working cooperatively with the DOR, employers are also helping their communities by saving taxpayers' dollars. When employers report newly hired employees, that information is reviewed with other government agency information, which helps to prevent or reduce erroneous benefits payments (unemployment insurance, workers' compensation) and public assistance fraud.
We appreciate the role employers play in making the child support program successful. If you have any questions about our program, or comments and suggestions, please contact us.
