Embrace your Future

"Embrace Your Future" is a new state venture, in partnership with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, Governor Deval Patrick, the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and the Office of Consumer Affairs and Regulation, and the Office of Long-Term Support Studies (LTSS) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In recognition of the rapid rise in the senior population as baby boomers (people born between 1946 and 1964) age, Massachusetts has joined with twenty-four other states and the federal government in launching a Long-Term Care Awareness Campaign, promoting earlier planning for later life. "Embrace your Future" is the name of the Massachusetts campaign as well as the title of a 44-page Massachusetts-specific Long-Term Support guide available free, and mailed to anyone requesting a copy.

At the end of January, 400,000 Massachusetts households received a letter from the Governor and a brochure describing the guide and providing a postage-paid order card. As the Governor noted, Medicare does not pay for long-term care supports but most people need help as they age. "Embrace Your Future" offers options for controlling your future by planning ahead. The earlier in our lives we make plans and take action, the more likely we are to have a secure later life. I urge you, family members and friends to order the booklet or down-load it at www.800ageinfo.com.

Plan, control and embrace your future!
