Health Care Services Board
Established pursuant to MGL c. 152 sec. 13, the Health Care Services Board (HCSB) is a medical advisory body of 14 members specified by statute and appointed by the Commissioner of the Department of Industrial Accidents. The HCSB meets regularly throughout the year to discharge its statutory responsibilities and to assist the Commissioner and the Department with the implementation of multiple medical initiatives stemming from legislative mandates.
The Health Care Services Board continually reviews and develops medical treatment guidelines. The Board also receives, reviews and investigates complaints against health care practitioners providing services to injured workers within the scope of MGL c. 152. In addition, the HCSB develops criteria (MGL c. 152, sec. 8(4) and sec. 11A) by which qualified health care providers are selected for the Department's impartial physician roster.
