Welcome from Director Edward T. Malmborg
Welcome to the Division of Unemployment Assistance Web Page. The Division of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is the state agency responsible for administering the unemployment insurance program in Massachusetts. At DUA, we are committed to helping unemployed workers during this temporary period of unemployment and connecting unemployed workers with resources to get them back to work. The Division of Unemployment Assistance (DUA)
- Manages the Unemployment Insurance program, which provides temporary income support to workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own
- Manages the Medical Security Program, which provides the continuation of health insurance benefits to unemployed workers who meet certain income criteria
- Manages the WorkSharing Program, which allows workers in a company to share reduced work hours while also collecting unemployment insurance benefits to supplement their reduced wages.
- Serves as the official agency that gathers and disseminates information about the Massachusetts economy, its industries and its growth patterns.
DUA strives to be a high performing agency with modern and efficient customer-focused business processes. For claimants, it means the ability to file weekly claims online or by phone, verify unemployment insurance claims and check status, change tax withholding deductions and more on the web. For employers, it includes the ability to process transactions online for registering your business with DUA, responding to employees’ separation and claims, filing and paying your contributions, as well as updating your company information.
I invite you to take the time to explore the wealth of information and the online tools provided through this web site. If you cannot locate the information you’re looking for, please address your comments to the Webmaster.
