Secretary Bump to Address Hampden County Regional Employment Board in Springfield

Tuesday, December 16th 2008--- Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Suzanne M. Bump will be in Springfield on Wednesday to address the Hampden County Regional Employment Board and to award it with High Performing status. To be certified as high performing, boards must demonstrate a high level of quality and effectiveness. The award brings with it a grant of $100,000, of which the Hampden board will use the majority to undertake greater outreach at the two Hampden County career centers, Career Point in Holyoke and Future Works in Springfield.

As part of Governor Patrick’s strategy to increase the capacity of the Commonwealth’s workforce, close the skills gap and align goals of education, training, and employment opportunities for youth, the Workforce Investment Boards conducts strategic planning in these areas.
