Important Notice about Workforce Training Fund Programs

The state’s budget shortfall has forced Governor Patrick to make tough choices with real impacts on state services, requiring shared sacrifice on the part of government, nonprofits, businesses and our citizens.  As a result, difficult but necessary changes had to be made immediately to the Workforce Training Fund programs. A summary of the changes is provided below:

Express and Hiring Incentive Training Grant Programs

  • Funding for both programs have been delayed until November 15, 2009.

  • New applications will be accepted when the Express and HITG programs are reactivated on November 16, 2009.

General Program

Please note these changes, effective immediately:

  • General Program recipients within the last five years (since January 2004) will not be considered for new grants until the five years have elapsed.
  • The maximum grant amount will revert back to $125,000. Applications for amounts greater than $125,000 will not be accepted.
  • Applications that do not meet the technical requirements (incomplete application or missing documentation: Department of Revenue Certificate of Good Standing, Financials, and Return on Investment (ROI) calculation) will not be accepted.  Employers will have to re-apply for the next round.
  • Priority will be given to applications focused on employee skills attainment and achievement of transferable and measurable skills.

The next application deadline is Monday, November 16, 2009.
