1. When does the application process begin?

The annual process begins each October. The deadline for grant applications is the following March.

2. Who is eligible to apply for a safety grant?

Any employer with employees in Massachusetts and that is in compliance with Massachusetts Workers' Compensation Law (M.G.L., Chapter 152).

3. Can one employer apply for more than one grant?

No, but they may be the training consultant for another employer's grant.

4. How is it determined who will be awarded the grants?

An Application Selection Committee reads all the proposals and makes recommendations to the Commissioner of the DIA. Scoring is based on scope, design, budget and other factors. Please see the current Grant Application for complete details.

5. What is the maximum amount of money one company can be awarded?

$25,000.

6. Who needs a Workers' Compensation Certificate?

The proposing organization, target audience, and all consultants must be in compliance with Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law.

7. What if the person named in the application to perform the training or administration, etc., changes?

A written request, along with the resume for the new person, a copy of the original budget, and proposed new budget with alterations, must be submitted to the Office of Safety.

8. What if I forget to submit, or incorrectly fill out, a required form or resume with the application?

If you are selected for funding you will have another chance to resubmit the form.

9. When are Payment Vouchers due?

Payment Vouchers must be submitted by the 15th of the month after service (example, due November 15th for service in October).

10. How fast are reimbursements awarded?

Usually within 30 days

11. If I request a copy of the Grant Application do I need to submit it?

No.

12. How often am I eligible to receive funding from this grant?

One grant is awarded per fiscal year to a firm.
