Transitional Aid to Families

Job Search Support for TAFDC Recipients

The Employment Assistance Services (EAS) program provides intensive job search assistance services to customers receiving or applying for Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC).

This program is conducted in cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA).

These services are provided by EAS staff conveniently located in One-Stop Career Centers and DTA offices throughout the state.

Program Components

All EAS participants receive the following services:
  • Assessment
  • Job readiness training
  • Job Search support and assistance
  • Case management
  • Job Placement
  • All TAFDC recipients are eligible for EAS services.

Structured Job Search

Recipients who participate in EAS staff-directed and supervised job search activities for a minimum of 20 hours per week may be eligible to receive child care and transportation assistance.

Because many participants in EAS have little or no work experience or are returning to the job market after a lengthy absence, the program is designed to acclimate participants to the work environment and the job search process in a structured and supportive atmosphere.
