These are grants to increase energy efficiency and develop alternative and renewable sources.

MASSACHUSETTS HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS GRANT PROGRAM

(formerly the Building Energy Transformation Program)

This funding is intended to help Massachusetts achieve scalable and dramatic improvement in the energy performance of all buildings in the Commonwealth, beyond what is currently expected to be attained through existing state and energy utility programs, such that more buildings move closer to being zero net energy buildings). A zero net energy building is one that is optimally efficient, and, over the course of a year, generates energy onsite, using clean renewable resources, in a quantity equal to or greater than the total amount of energy consumed onsite.

Who can apply?

All types of entities are eligible to apply.  Programs or projects can address any type of building, and must occur in Massachusetts.   Applicants should propose programs or projects consistent with anticipated award amounts of between $500,000 and $5 million.

Issue RFR: September 18, 2009

Deadline to submit questions:  November 3, 2009

Answers to questions posted on www.comm-pass.com:  November 6, 2009

Additional Information

This funding will be used for four project categories:

  • Deep energy retrofits 
  • Projects that demonstrate cleaner, more efficient space conditioning technologies in buildings
  • Upgrades of oil heating systems and installation of energy conservations measures in the same building
  • Community-based education/mobilization efforts around energy efficiency/renewable energy

MASSACHUSETTS SOLAR STIMULUS (PART OF SEP)

August Update Word: Thank you for your continued interest in the Massachusetts Solar Stimulus Program. We have received much constructive feedback from the solar community, which has led us to conclude that the best course of action is to cancel RFP # ENE 2009-012 and re-issue a revised Mass. Solar Stimulus RFP later this fall.

The funding for MaSS is focused on installing large solar PV systems on state and municipal sites, leveraging federal funds to the fullest extent possible. These activities will use, where appropriate, third party providers to install and maintain large solar arrays.
