Services for Children with Disabilities & Special Needs
The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) offers an array of services and resources for children with disabilities and special needs and their families. In addition, EEC works collaboratively with other state agencies including Department of Public Health and Department of Secondary and Elementary Education. EEC is also responsible for overseeing federal IDEA preschool special education funds and working with public schools regarding special education services for young children ages 3 to 5.

Early Intervention provides family-centered services to help children who qualify to develop the skills they will need to continue to grow into happy and healthy members of the community. This service is provided by the Early Intervention Program within the Department of Public Health.
