The Next Chapter of Education Reform: Ensuring Success for All Students

Moving to fulfill the promise of education reform for all students in Massachusetts, Governor Deval Patrick has filed dramatic new legislation to improve public schools and close achievement gaps that persist despite the successes of the state’s landmark Education Reform Act of 1993.

Joined at an event by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Massachusetts Secretary of Education Paul Reville, the Governor unveiled his plans to increase accountability for school performance and student achievement and promote innovative practices in schools across Massachusetts.

The legislation will trigger a more aggressive strategy to transform underperforming schools and create new opportunities for educators and partners to develop schools of excellence.
