DMH Citizen Advisory Boards

DMH Citizen Advisory Boards

As required by statute and regulations, the Department of Mental Health has established citizen advisory boards at the state, area and site levels, and boards of trustees at the state hospitals.  Board members act as representatives of people living in the geographic area served by the board to advise the Department regarding local needs and resources in the development of comprehensive mental health services, and to educate the public about the needs of individuals with mental illness and their families.

Members are appointed and are expected to reflect the geographic and demographic diversity of the area served by the board.  Membership must include those who are or have been recipients of mental health services, their families, and those representing the interests of children less than 19 years of age, adults over 60 years of age, and racial and cultural minority groups.

On this page, you will find lists of the DMH citizen boards and their members as well as information about work of the boards across the Commonwealth.
