Public Input Session: Study of the Reserves, Endowments, and Surpluses of Health Insurers and Hospitals
Section 35 of Chapter 305 of the Acts of 2008 requires that the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy, in conjunction with the Division of Insurance, conduct a study of the reserves, endowments, and surpluses of health insurers and hospitals. The goal of this study is to "examine options and alternatives available to the commonwealth to provide regulation, oversight and disposition of the reserves, endowments, and surpluses of health insurers and hospitals." The Division of Health Care Finance and Policy and the Division of Insurance will hold a public input session to receive comments, ideas, and recommendations regarding the study. We welcome your participation in this process. We have developed questions for insurers to consider when providing comments. Similarly, we have developed questions for hospitals.
The public input session will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the John Daley Room, 2 Boylston Street, 5th floor, Boston, MA 02116.
If you would like to provide oral comments to the Division, please notify Geraldine Lantieri by noon on April 14, 2009 at (617) 988-3163 or at geraldine.lantieri@state.ma.us. Individuals will be called in the order in which names were received. To ensure equal opportunity for all parties to speak, comments will be limited to approximately five minutes per organization.
The Division will provide a call-in conference number upon request. Callers will be able to listen to the discussion, but will not be allowed to otherwise participate in the session. If you would like to call into the conference line, please contact Geraldine Lantieri.
