Dear Commissioner Reed,
I am writing to ask for your support for our public awareness campaign during the month of April, Child Abuse Prevention Month. As you may know, Massachusetts ranks third in the nation for confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect. The good news is that through programming, we are reaching more parents in communities throughout the state and providing them with the skills and support they need and deserve to become the best parents they can be. As a result, we are strengthening Massachusetts’s families and protecting children. But we still need to reach more families, more parents and protect more children. That’s why I am asking for your help.
This April, our positive messaging will help Bay Staters better understand that parents need assistance and support and that assistance and support can be found through CTF-funded community-based programs and online on our parenting website, aptly name onetoughjob.org. We use humor and understanding to reach parents through the One Tough Job campaign. Parenting is full of many rewards and wonderful moments, but there is no denying it has its challenges and frustrations – it’s one tough job! Would you support this campaign and help us reach more parents by distributing postcards that highlight the campaign to your members and including a link to onetoughjob.org on your website?
Thank you for considering joining us this April and lending your support. You and your staff may contact Ann Scanlon in my office directly to request materials via phone at (617) 727-8957 extension 314 or email at ascanlon@mctf.state.ma.us.
Sincerely,
Suzin Bartley, LICSW
