Outpatient Services
The Outpatient Department at the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea is committed to serving veterans. The Outpatient Department is staffed by primary care physicians and nurse practitioners. Consultant physicians staff our various clinics including Optometry; Ophthalmology; Orthopedics; Pulmonary; Dermatology; Dentistry (Tufts); Endocrinology; Podiatry; Urology; Cardiology; and minor surgery.
Other services provided by the Outpatient Department include dietary services, physical therapy, and social services. All these disciplines collaborate together to assist veterans with their specific medical needs and concerns. Please note that appointments are suggested and may be made by calling the Outpatient Department at 617-887-7132, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. There is a walk-in service daily from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. for problems that cannot wait until a scheduled appointment
The Outpatient Department is closed on national holidays. The various clinics may be subject to date/time changes or cancellation. Please call the Outpatient Department to obtain the most current status of our operations.

Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin - Ophthalmology (weekly)
Diagnosis and treatment of eye disease - Optometry (weekly)
Eye exams only - Orthopedics (weekly)
Diagnosis and treatment of muscles - Podiatry (two clinics per week)
Reduction of toenails - Pulmonary
Diseases of the lung - Cardiology
Diseases of the heart - Surgery-minor (weekly)
Diagnosis and treatment for excisions of minor skin lesions - Urology (weekly)
Diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract problems for both women and men - X-Rays, Electrocardiograms (EKGs), and Lab Diagnostics, as required.
