Department of Transitional Assistance
-
Welcome to the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) website. At DTA, we strive to provide individuals and families with food assistance, job assistance, and cash assistance.
-
The mission of the Department of Transitional Assistance is to assist low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, increase their incomes, and improve their quality of life.
Important Information about SNAP Benefits
Each year, the federal government makes a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to the calculation of SNAP benefit amounts. SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) are changing as of October 1, 2009 due to this adjustment. Your SNAP benefits may increase, decrease, or stay the same. Many of you will not see any change in your SNAP benefits.
If you participate in SNAP and your benefits are changing, you will receive a notice in the mail. If your SNAP benefits are not being affected, you will not receive a notice.
If you have any questions about the SNAP COLA, please call 1-888-483-0255.
