Human Research Review Committee
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Human Research Review Committee (HRRC) consists of two institutional review boards (IRBs): Shattuck (IRB00000701) and RaDAR (IRB00007125), which oversee research involving human subjects or their confidential information.
All human subject research conducted by MDPH employees, or agents working on its behalf, as well as any other research that involves access to confidential MDPH information must be reviewed by a Department IRB. In addition, all research must be approved by the Commissioner of Public Health in accordance with M.G.L. c. 111, §24A. This protects the confidentiality of all information collected or created as part of an approved research study and imposes restrictions on use and disclosure of research data.
