Introduction to BHISRE
The Bureau monitors the health status of Massachusetts residents and identifies emerging trends. We collect legal, medical, and statistical information on births, deaths, cancers, health behaviors, and injuries. We issue certified copies of vital records. We provide research databases and technical assistance in their use. We interpret data to inform the public. We disseminate health information about at-risk groups, communities, and the Massachusetts population.
-
The Bureau is comprised of seven programs: the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics, MassCHIP, the Division of Research and Epidemiology, the Massachusetts Cancer Registry, the Health Survey Program (BRFSS), the Occupational Health Surveillance Program, and the Injury Surveillance Program.
-
Bureau reports include information on topics such as births, deaths, cancer, injuries, occupational health, and marriage records.
