Welcome from Commissioner Julia E. Kehoe
Welcome to the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) website. At DTA, we strive to provide individuals and families with food assistance, job assistance, and cash assistance.
DTA administers benefits such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program/SNAP (formerly the Food Stamp Program), Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), and Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC). Because DTA emphasizes transitional assistance, recipients are encouraged to participate in education, training and job search activities to assist in obtaining employment, which helps us all achieve our potential and maximizes our independence. With our support, our clients are given the tools to improve their lives.
We urge you to explore the information about DTA’s programs and initiatives available through this web site. We are proud of the work our Department is doing to help the people in the Commonwealth.
We try to answer all your questions in detail, but if you cannot locate the desired information, please contact us. I thank you for visiting the Department of Transitional Assistance’s website.
