WIC Campaigns
N.F.L. Nutrition for Life Campaign
WIC will team up again with the Patriot’s Radio Network - Boston’s 98.5FM the Sports Hub - for a special program called ‘N.F.L. - Nutrition for Life’. Based on the premise that children are influenced by Sports figures, the Nutrition for Life Program will use an athlete to encourage good nutrition and physical activity into their lives.
Running Back Sammy Morris, who promoted the Nutrition for Life Program during game broadcasts last season, will once again be WIC’s spokesman for the 2009 season. As you may know, WIC is especially close to Sammy’s heart, because when he and his wife were still in college, they turned to WIC for help with their first child.
Also, as part of this special campaign Sammy Morris will make 4 appearances during the season at select schools and kindergartens around New England on behalf of WIC. Sammy will also be speaking at the State House in Boston on October 6th to help announce the new WIC foods for the Massachusetts WIC Program.

Mooove to Lowfat Milk Campaign
Starting in January of 2009, the Massachusetts WIC Nutrition Program will only be offering low-fat milks to women and children over 2 years of age to be consistent with the current recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to limit saturated fat and dietary cholesterol. Whole milk will still be authorized only for children 1-2 years of age and with presenting medical need for older children and women. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is in strong support of this revision to the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) food packages.
In support of this change, the Massachusetts Nutrition Program will launch a new campaign – Mooove to 1% Lowfat and Fat Free Dairy. If you have questions about the Campaign please call the WIC Program at 1-800-WIC-1007.
