Huntington's Disease Program
Tewksbury Hospital cares for patients in the middle and more advanced stages of Huntington's Disease (HD) that need extended care. The cognitive, movement and mood disorders that comprise HD in a relatively younger person may pose placement challenges for families. For the last several years the hospital has dedicated an entire unit to the care of patients with HD.
Inquiries and referrals to our inpatient extended care program may be made to our Coordinator of Admissions, Ellen Prokop, RN at (978) 851-7321, extension 2527.
Based on availability and assurance of a discharge, short-term admissions may be arranged for patients in unique situations.
The multidisciplinary outpatient clinic operates once a month on a Tuesday morning. Steven Hersch, MD is the clinic neurologist. Clinic services are available to citizens of the Commonwealth and the other New England states.
For a clinic appointment call Cindy Kelleher, RN at (978) 851-7321, extension 2375.
General questions about our Huntington’s Disease Service and other available resources may be directed to the Director of Huntington’s Disease Services, James Pollard at (978) 851-7321, extension 2450 or James.Pollard@state.ma.us.
