State Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Route 128 South in Woburn
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Keefe indicates that 57-year-old Moses K. Yahaya of Jersey City, New Jersey was operating a 2003 Mack tractor-trailer in the right lane of Route 128 South in Woburn when 77-year-old John F. Herlihy of Winchester stepped out into the right lane and was struck by Yahaya. Herlihy suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene at 5:47 a.m. Yahaya was uninjured
Due to the crash investigation and vehicle removal, the right lane of Route 128 South at Route 38 was closed for approximately 2 hours. The facts and circumstance of the crash remain under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Middlesex County State Police Detective Unit, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Woburn Fire Department and MassHighways assisted Troopers at the scene.
