State Police Identify Victim Found in Deerfield River as Missing Teenager
Miss Henry was recovered yesterday at 12:13 p.m. by State Police and Charlemont police and firefighters, not long after her body was located by a State Police helicopter. The recovery came on the fourth day of searching by ground, air and marine units. The recovery was made on the edge of the river in Charlemont in Mohawk Park. The closest street location to the point of recovery was the 500-600 block of South River Road.
Miss Henry fell into the river on Saturday while she and friends were riding inflatable tubes. Her tube flipped when the group encountered turbulent water and strong currents. She was not wearing a life jacket.
The death investigation was conducted by the Hampshire/Franklin State Police Detective Unit and the office of the Northwestern District Attorney. The search and recovery was conducted by Troop B of the State Police and other State Police units, including the Special Emergency Response Team, the Air Wing, the Underwater Recovery Team, and K9 Units.
