State Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 195 East in Somerset

On Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Dartmouth responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 195 eastbound in Somerset that resulted in one fatality. 

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Corey Rose indicates that 51 year-old Kenneth M. Berube of Fall River was operating a 1996 Saturn sedan on Route 195 eastbound, prior to the Braga Bridge Somerset when his vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right striking the tree line.  Berube suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. 

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.  Troopers on scene where assisted by the Somerset Fire Department.      

The breakdown lane was closed for approximately 1 1/2 hours for the crash investigation and vehicle removal.
