State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 3 in Braintree

 On August 15, 2009, at approximately 3:01 p.m. Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Norwell responded to a one vehicle rollover crash on Route 3 southbound, south of exit 17 in Braintree which resulted in one fatality.

     Preliminary investigation by Trooper Edward Roach indicates that a 64 year old John Keaney from Pembroke was driving a 2000 Toyota Tundra when the vehicle lost control rolling over ejecting the operator. The operator sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  . 
     This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  Police and Fire Departments from Braintree assisted Troopers at the scene.

For approximately 1 1/2 hours two lanes remained open with periodic closing of the roadway while the investigation and vehicle removal occurred.  No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
