State Police Arrest Motorcyclist Who Fled Wrong Way on Route 95 Danvers

On July 14, 2009 at approximately 1:50 p.m. Trooper James Gill of the Andover barracks observed two motorcyclists traveling on Route 95 North in Danvers, allegedly in excess of 100 mph. The trooper activated his lights and stopped both motorcycles.

During the stop, one operator, 30-year-old GERONIMO ESPINAL of Lynn  reversed his direction and fled  south in the northbound lane of Route 95. The trooper observed the motorcycle exit Route 95 by traveling down the Route 1 North on ramp. The operator stopped his motorcycle and fled on foot in the area of the Bel Aire Diner.

Troopers from the Andover barracks and State Police  K-9 units set up a perimeter and initiated a search of the area. Shortly after the search began ESPINAL was located in the car of a female acquaintance attempting to leave the area.  He was placed under arrest and charged with refusing to stop, operating to endanger, operating after revocation, operating without a license, and speeding. The investigation is continuing regarding the role of the female acquaintance.

ESPINAL is expected to be arraigned in Salem District Court tomorrow. The second motorcyclist from the initial stop was issued a summons for operating without a license and speeding.

No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
