Latin Kings
Founded in the 1940's by a small group of Hispanic in the Chicago, Illinois area, the purpose of the organization was to help the Hispanic community achieve a better way of life by preserving the Hispanic culture and promoting education. However, the Latin Kings have evolved into a nationwide criminal organization with chapters in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Illinois, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
The Latin Kings have a strong line of communication and support between members incarcerated and those members on the outside. Massachusetts Latin Kings are currently active in several communities as well all secure facilities in the MDOC.
The Latin Kings formal name is Almighty Latin King Queen Nation (ALKQN) and a part of the People Nation.
Latin Kings use the logos ALKQN, ALKN, ADR, LK, 5 POINTED CROWN, 5 POINTED STAR and 423. Their colors are Black and Gold (yellow is use in place of gold). Black represents death and gold represents life. Their beads are black and gold in a sequence of 5 black followed by 5 gold. Some sayings used are "Amor De Rey" which means "Love of The King" and "Black and Gold Never grow Old".

Originated in the Springfield, Massachusetts and New York areas. LaFamilia use the logos "Amor De Familia" which means love of the family, "ADLF" and "ALFN" and "unity". LaFamilia's hand sign is thumb, index finger and middle finger up with the ring and little finger closed to fist. LaFamilia colors are primarily red and white, as shown with these LaFamilia beads. Some factions use the colors red white and blue.

NETA
Established in the 1970 by an inmate serving time in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico. The word "NETA" is pronounced nye-tah. The group refers to themselves as an association formed to stop violence between inmates. However the group is a tight knit group, who looks to protect their membership's interest and activities which include extortion and assaults.
Neta is active within the MDOC. There are outside chapters in Massachusetts communities mostly in western Mass. Neta's colors are red, white and black.
