  • Governor Patrick attends the funeral of Corporal Nicholas Xiarhos in Centerville.

Saint-Gobain Research and Development Center Ribbon Cutting by Office of Governor Patrick.

Governor Patrick and Saint-Gobain CEO Pierre-Andre de Chalendar cut the ribbon for the newly expanded research center in Northborough on Thursday.

 

Governor Patrick announces the $10 million loan that will help the Atlas Box & Crating Company add and retain jobs in Sutton yesterday.

 

  • Massachusetts: Poised for Economic Recovery – Yesterday, Governor Patrick attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the expansion of the Saint-Gobain Research and Development Center in Northborough. Saint-Gobain researches and develops building materials, plastics, abrasives and ceramics. The Governor “thanked the company for expanding in Massachusetts and pointed out that CNBC recently rated Massachusetts among the top 10 best states in which to do business. He said Massachusetts had the largest job gain in the country in May. ‘This is a wonderful example of the thoughtfulness and caring that must go into all sorts of our commercial and residential decisions,’ the governor said, ‘as we go forward both in terms of how we save the planet and also how we advance that sector of our strong and strengthening economy here in the commonwealth and in this country.’” Read more in the Telegram and MetroWest Daily News.     • Also yesterday, Governor Patrick joined officials from Sutton’s Atlas Box and Crating Company and MassDevelopment to announce a company expansion that will result in 100 new jobs over the next two years, thanks in part to a $10 million loan approved by the Governor. “Right now we're all about jobs," said Governor Patrick. "Manufacturing is important in our economy, and this partnership with Atlas means more jobs ahead in Massachusetts.” Learn more here and read the Worcester Business Journal.

 

  • Governor of the Whole Commonwealth – Governor Patrick joined in the celebration at the Portuguese Feast Opening Ceremony in New Bedford last night. Governor Patrick marched down Madeira Avenue watching the American, Portuguese and Madeiran flags being raised. “Welcoming the feast back for its 95th year, Governor Patrick said he knows of no cultural heritage ‘more rich and vibrant’ than that of the Portuguese community.” Read more here.

  • Tuesday afternoon, Governor Patrick made an announcement relative to housing in Springfield.

 

  • Tuesday night, Governor Patrick attended Tanglewood on Parade in Lenox.

 

  • On Wednesday, Governor Patrick visited with young people attending UMASS Boston summer camps and programs.

 

  • Wednesday afternoon, Governor Patrick met with students and teachers at Project RISE in Braintree.

 

 

  • Yesterday Governor Patrick attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Saint-Gobain Research and Development Center in Northborough.

 

  • Yesterday afternoon, Governor Patrick made a local economic development announcement in Sutton.

 

  • Later yesterday afternoon, Governor Patrick traveled to New Bedford to meet with the Coalition for Social Justice, and to attend the Portuguese Feast Opening Ceremony.
