Take Public Transportation
Taking public transportation as often as possible is perhaps the best option to save on gas money.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority lists subway, bus, train, and boat schedules on their website, and also allows you to plan your trip ahead of time to get an estimated arrival time. You can also sign up for "T" service alerts and be notified every morning of service delays and interruptions.

Useful for getting around the Greater Boston area, this website allows you to enter a starting and ending address (or even two points on a map) and get directions and an estimated time for taking buses, trains, and walking.

The Regional Transit Authorities handle public transportation needs for the 231 cities and towns outside of the MBTA district.

Lots are conveniently located along major highways; all-day parking is often free.
