Background
The Legal Unit of the Division of Banks provides legal advice and representation to the Commissioner of Banks and Division staff on matters related to the regulation of financial institutions and licensees within the regulatory jurisdiction of the Division. The legal staff reviews and processes applications submitted by regulated financial institutions for regulatory action, responds to requests for regulatory approvals and opinions submitted by regulated entities and attorneys; and drafts and coordinates legislative filings on behalf of the Division.
