Essex County Sheriff’s Department Secure Alternative Lockup Program

ECSD Secure Alternative Lockup Program is designed to relieve police departments of the burden of caring for alleged juvenile delinquents during non-court hours, thereby ensuring that no juvenile will be detained in a police lockup for longer than the federally mandated six-hour time limit.

The facility, located at 65 Marston Street, Lawrence, houses alleged juvenile delinquents from the time of their arrest until their arraignment during the next available court session.   The Sheriff’s ALP-Secure program serves serious and violent delinquent offenders who are arrested from within the seventy-five (75) communities that comprise the Northeast Area of the Commonwealth.
