The Money Conferences focus on money management, retirement and investment strategies for all ages, racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds, and levels of financial knowledge. At the Conferences, participants hear a keynote presentation, schedule one-on-one meetings with a financial advisor, and attend two workshops of their choice. The workshops range in topics from money management to long term care insurance and home buying. Treasurer Cahill has held 18 conferences to date (2003-2009) with over 10,000 attendees. The largest conference was hosted on September 27, 2008 and with over 1700 registrants.

Saving Makes "Cents" is a program for elementary school children, which focuses on the ABC's of money management. Local schools and banks work together to teach children basic monetary concepts, including how to open a savings account, the origin of money and basic budgeting skills. The State Treasurer's office provides an educational curriculum, which is taught by classroom teachers and bank representatives. A bank representative works with the teacher to establish opportunities for students to open savings accounts and make deposits right at their school.

Treasurer Tim Cahill's Financial Education Department has teamed up with Metro Credit Union and WBZ-FM 98.5 The Sports Hub for the "Four Downs for Finance" Contest. Students in grades K-12 are encouraged to complete an essay about the importance of saving money. Each week during the regular season three winning essays will be selected! One Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from the finalists and will receive a $500 savings account, a school visit from offensive lineman Dan Koppen and an invitation to attend this season's last New England home game on December 27th! The Brown Bag Lunch Seminar Series is an opportunity for the public to better understand financial topics and develop money management. Treasurer Tim Cahill's one hour, lunch-time seminars take place at the State House. Since 2005, these seminars have addressed a variety of seminar topics and generated numerous financial education discussions.

SMART Retirement & Beyond, a new retirement planning seminar series exclusively for Massachusetts State Employees sponsored by State Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill, the Massachusetts State Board of Retirement.

Caution with Credit provides college students with the online tools and information, which is crucial to understanding responsible credit card use. The program warns students of the pitfalls of credit card debt and its long lasting impact and also informs students about the basics of credit cards including interest, APR, and credit ratings. Started in 2007, Caution with Credit materials and presenters will be available at freshmen orientations throughout the state. The focus will be proper credit card use, the personal financial planning, and the impact of not using caution with credit.

The Foundation's suite of sites under www.massachusetts.tomorrowsmoney.org offer a wealth of basic personal finance information, tools and resources to help you, regardless of your background or current financial circumstances.
