The Attorney General's Office issued the " Statement of the Attorney General as to Quincy Medical Center Transaction  " on September 7, 2011.

Pursuant to the requirements of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 180, Section 8(A)(d), on July 8, 2011, Quincy Medical Center ("Quincy") filed formal notice of a proposed sale of hospital to Steward Health Care System LLC. This filing commenced the Attorney General's formal review of the transaction which evaluated:

1. Applicable non-profit and charities law;
2. Procedural due care;
3. Management of conflict of interests;
4. Fair and reasonable compensation; and
5. The public interest.

The formal notice, which includes a description of the transaction and a copy of the Asset Purchase Agreement, is available for public review. In addition, public documents related to the transaction may be inspected at the Attorney General's Office in Boston.

Public Comment

The Attorney General's Office together with the Department of Public Health, whose approval is also required, held a a public hearing on August 9, 2011 at Quincy High School, 52 Coddington Street Quincy, MA 02169.
