Statement of Attorney General Martha Coakley on the Loss of Senator Edward M. Kennedy

BOSTON - Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley issued the following statement today regarding the death of U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy:

"It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of Senator Ted Kennedy. Massachusetts has lost a son, and the nation has lost a great and compassionate statesman.

Senator Kennedy had a tremendous impact on our Commonwealth and indeed the entire country. He remained tirelessly committed to fighting for his constituents, especially on the issue of health care, even while fighting his own personal battle with cancer.

Massachusetts was truly blessed to have had him as our Senator. We will always remember his courage and his tenacity. We honor his life and his legacy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Senator's family during this sad time."
