Statement of Attorney General Martha Coakley on Actions Taken Today by Governor Patrick Regarding the Parole Board

"Governor Patrick's strong, decisive actions were necessary to begin to restore confidence in a Board that's first priority must be to protect the public. Today's report issued by the Executive Office of Public Safety outlined unacceptable and widespread systemic failings at the Parole Board. I want to commend the thorough work done by Secretary Heffernan, Undersecretary Grossman, and their team on this report.

I am also encouraged that Governor Patrick announced that he will file legislation aimed at the most dangerous repeat offenders like Dominic Cinelli. It is the very reason I have supported Melissa's Bill and am hopeful that we can pass such legislation swiftly. We cannot afford to wait any longer."
