AG Coakley’s Statement on the Passing of Attorney General Robert Quinn
BOSTON – Today, Attorney General Martha Coakley issued this statement on the passing of Attorney General Robert Quinn:
“General Quinn was a passionate public servant. Often on the forefront of some of the country’s most pressing issues, General Quinn established the Environmental Protection Division in the Attorney General’s Office, led a multi-state coalition to challenge the federal government’s ability to drill for oil off our shores, and established the New England Organized Crime Intelligence System. We will miss his vision and leadership, and I will miss his friendship and sound advice. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
General Quinn served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1957 to 1969 and as speaker from 1967 to 1969. In 1970 he was elected Attorney General.
