While the Boston office is the headquarters for the statewide work undertaken by the office, the three regional offices provide more direct access to many Massachusetts residents and the opportunity for our office to provide effective services in communities outside the Boston area.
The Central, Southeastern and Western Massachusetts regional offices offer residents an opportunity to meet the Attorney General's staff without traveling to Boston and a chance to discuss their concerns and questions with staff who know their area.
Regional office staff include lawyers, labor inspectors, consumer mediators, and administrative staff who are knowledgeable about the statewide activities of the Attorney General's Office and have also developed special relationships with local, regional, and community resources.
The regional offices also work closely with local community organizations to provide outreach and education programs on topics such as safe internet use, workplace rights, and consumer scams to area residents in collaboration with schools, senior centers, and community organizations.
The Western Massachusetts office is the home base for the Municipal Law Division.
Staff in each regional office will be able to:
- evaluate whether we can help you in preparing or filing a complaint regarding your problem or concern;
- give you basic information about the law or your rights on issues of concern (see Note, below);
- direct you to the right place in our Boston offices to address your question or concern; or
- refer you to the appropriate community organization or other government agency in your area that may be best able to provide assistance.
Note: The Attorney General's Office is not authorized to provide legal advice or representation to individuals. We may suggest that you find a private attorney to help you with your problem and if we do, we will provide information on resources that are available to help you locate one.
