Envirothon Participants
The Envirothon is a problem solving event, designed for teams of high school
students, which focuses on soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, agriculture
and current environmental issues. High school students prepare for the
event all year long, which is held at the beginning of May. The event also
sponsors teams and teacher workshops to help them prepare for the event.
The event is all day long and includes several stations to be tested on and an oral presentation on a current event topic which is judged by various environmental groups.
Winners of the event receive an award and certificate and first place winners
are offered the chance to compete in the National Canon Envirothon held
during the summer.
Getting high school students involved with environmental issues and concerns
enables them to become environmentally aware, action-oriented adults in
the future.
