Norman Lawton
Lawton Farm, Foxborough
Norman Lawton graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass/Amherst
in 1937 with a degree in poultry husbandry. He raised poultry from the
1920s through the 1970s, shipping chicks all over the world.
A leader in the poultry industry in Massachusetts and nationwide, Norman
is a past president of the American Poultry and Hatchery Federation. His
flock was an early flock to be pullorum tested by the state and Norman
did blood collecting for other farms to be tested by the state.
Norman was active in the Guernsey Cattle Assocation as well. He was very
active in the Massachusetts Farm Bureau, serving as president for Norfolk
County and is still active as a trustee of the Eastern States Exposition,
having served for 20 years. |
