Peter and Paul Richardson
Richardson Farms, Middleton
Peter Richardson (left) and his father Paul represent the eighth and nineth generations of Richardsons to farm in Middleton. Founded in 1690, Richardson Farms is one of the Bay State's Century Farms. They produce 3.7 million pounds
of milk and make about 800,000 gallons of ice cream per year from their
own herd of Holsteins. The Richardsons have rented farmland in Danvers
from the Department for the past 31 years. This parcel of land has helped
them to farm in this urban area.
