Pete Westover

Pete Westover has worked for MDAR for more than four years assisting towns in western Mass in setting up Agricultural Commissions and Right to Farm Bylaws and coordinating Ag Commission conferences. Prior to that, he spent thirty years as Amherst Conservation Director, assisting with the completion of scores of Agricultural Preservation Restrictions and overseeing the implementation of dozens of agricultural and land improvement grants, ag land leases, and ag land management projects. As a co-owner of the Hatfield based firm Conservation Works, LLC, he currently works for various land trusts, municipalities, and colleges on projects involving land management, ecological monitoring, and agricultural and conservation land protection. He was a founding board member of Valley Land Fund, is a founding and current board member of Whately Land Preservation, author of the book Managing Conservation Land, and a past or present board member of numerous other conservation organizations.
