Faces of Massachusetts Agriculture
White Farm
The White Farm co-owners Tedd White and Lisa Turner (pictured far left)
have launched a biodiesel cooperative. From their farm alone, 3,000 gallons of biodiesel fuel will be produced from 30 acres of sunflower seeds to run all of their farm equipment and heat their home. The leftover mash from the processed oil is used as high protein feed for their 90 cows. Other participating farmers (here shown) will be producing their own fuel to run saw mills, use in their sugar houses, heat their homes, and run farm equipment.
