Assistant Commissioner
Nathan L’Etoile comes to the Department of Agricultural Resources with
a diverse background steeped in agriculture. Nathan grew up, and still
lives on a diversifying sod farm in Western Massachusetts. His family is
well known in the farming community having first started in Rhode Island,
and now farming in Massachusetts. Nathan left the farm to pursue an education
and career in finance at the University of Rhode Island, but after having
worked on several commodity exchanges, was drawn back to the family farm.
Nathan became active in Farm Bureau first as a county board member, then
county president, and finally as a state board member. He made the transition
to the advocacy world when he took a full-time job with Farm Bureau as
its Director of Communications. He quickly transitioned to Director of
Government Relations where he focused on local, state, and federal policy
development and implementation.
Through his years of advocacy for the agricultural community, Nathan has learned a great deal about the farming industry here in Massachusetts and fostered strong ties to farmers, legislators, and administrative officials. He still serves on several county government boards as well as Town Moderator for his hometown in Northfield.
