1. "Modification and Further Demonstration of the Blake Floating Hatchery/Nursery Culture System."   "Modification and Further Demonstration of the Blake Floating Hatchery/Nursery Culture System" and "An Improved Tidal-Powered Upwelling Shellfish Nursery System for Vineyard Aquaculturists" are two projects that were combined and funded at a level less than requested. These projects will further demonstrate a shellfish nursery system that has been designed to enable an individual shellfish grower to produce 1-2 million juvenile shellfish. This project is a collaborative effort of Jack Blake, the Martha's Vineyard Shellfish Group and multiple shellfish growers on Martha's Vineyard. Amount $24,999.99

2. A project designed to expand the shellfish culture capacity of Aquacultural Research Corporation in Dennis, MA through the construction and installation of a shore based up-weller system at central wharf Wellfleet MA. Through the establishment of a satellite up-weller nursery system ARC can alleviate crowded conditions at the primary facility in Dennis thereby freeing up space that can be used to increase shellfish production.
Amount $ 16,000.00


3. "Enhancing and Sustaining the Shellfisheries of Massachusetts' North Shore" will combine public and private efforts toward the restoration of soft shell clam (Mya arenaria) populations in the Gloucester area. Lead by the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission this collaborative effort will also include the hatchery production assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Center and local support through the Gloucester Shellfish Department. Amount $4,675.00


4. A proposal for funding assistance for the purchase larval tanks and miscellaneous screening and pipes toward the establishment of Wampanoag Aquinnah Shellfish Hatchery on Martha's Vineyard. Assistance toward this program will facilitate the construction and operation of a new shellfish seed source for the Commonwealth. This project is an effort of the Wampanoag Purveyors, Wampanoag Tribe Aquinnah. Amount $ 4,125.75
