Retired Greyhound Adoption Council
|
Greyhound Care and Adoption GrantsGRANTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLEThe Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources ("AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES" or the "Department") in conjunction with the Greyhound Care and Adoption Council ("Greyhound Council") has posted a Request for Response AGR-GATF05-01 ("RFR") for Greyhound Adoption Trust Fund Grants. Responses will be accepted and processed on monthly intervals, however, notice is hereby given that contracts will be dependent upon funding and legislation. A new Request For Response (AGR-GATF-06) for veterinary services has also been posted on Comm-pass. This is an open RFR with initial responses due on March 31, 2006, and monthly thereafter. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 10, Sections 64 and 65, the grants will be funded through the Retired Greyhound Adoption Trust Fund and designed to encourage and assist in the adoption of racing greyhounds that never qualified to race, or that have reached the end of their racing careers. Preference is given to those Responders who focus on greyhounds that are Massachusetts bred and/or raced. Additional preference will be given to those responders who focus on greyhounds who have ended their careers at racetracks located in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts providing such greyhounds have had at least one (1) start and/or official schooling in Massachusetts. Also, consideration will be given to those greyhounds that were not whelped in Massachusetts and were retired from race tracks outside of Massachusetts providing that such greyhound has had at least one (1) start at a Massachusetts track and/or official schooling in Massachusetts. Additional consideration will also be given to those Massachusetts greyhounds that reached the end of their racing careers on or before May 14, 2005 as a result of the closing of the Plainfield Greyhound Park, Plainfield, Connecticut. Agricultural Resources is administering this grants response process on behalf of the Greyhound Council. Greyhound Council members review the responses and make the selection of successful responders. In order to ensure a fair and unbiased selection process, responders should NOT contact any member of the Greyhound Council or any employee of Agricultural Resources for information about these grants. Responders should, instead, refer to the materials posted on Comm-PASS, and direct written questions to Daniel Rhodes ("Contact Person") if necessary. Responders should obtain response information and forms on Comm-PASS.
