Our goal is not solely to provide fresh and nutritious vegetables, but
also to foster a community. It is essential for our members to understand
that they aren’t just buying a share of fresh vegetables, but supporting
a small, diversified organic farm, many of which are quickly disappearing
from the American landscape. We hope our members will view themselves as
part of a movement and understand that their monetary support is essential
to its continuation and growth. This year we intend to distribute vegetables
for 20 weeks. Distributions will start sometime in early June and end in
late October. For the 2009 season we are offering Full and Part shares.
In general, we intend a Full share to provide for 4-5 people, and a Part
for 1-2. The membership cost of a Full share will be $550 and $300 for
a Part. Pick-up days are Monday or Thursday from 3-7PM at the farm.

For 2009 we are seeking a new kind of partnership with a core group of committed "foodies" who see and understand the greater mission of Community Agriculture, (beyond the luscious, weekly grub) and who are willing to brainstorm, work with us and help build that evolving partnership. Truth is, we're not so much looking for 2009 CSA "customers" as we are seeking savvy and committed partners in this effort to create a saner, healthier, more local (and more delicious) food paradigm here in western Massachusetts -- and across our planet.

I have a very tiny, one person farm. I try to grow a wide variety of vegetables for as long a season as possible. This is the third year of the CSA and I have much to learn. So far members have been very happy with their shares, especially the mesclun and flowers. In Leyden, members enjoy home delivery. Last year the shares went for 23 weeks. This year will be longer, I hope. I especially like growing beans, shell beans, lettuce, mesclun and trying out a variety of heirloom and unusual vegetables, ie. baby corn and rampacante squash. I like to grow what is not often found in the store and always make flavor a priority. I have been gardening organically in this location for 33 years.
